Megan McNeal

This is Megan McNeal, a character I designed for Scot's show, The Moonlighters. She's loosely based off of an old character design his friend Adam made. It's my first time cleaning up a drawing in Photoshop. What do you guys think?

Hey Capuchin. I like this character :-). Here's some suggs: One thing about character design is to really focus on shape, the overall shape of the body and head, etc. You do this pretty well, but you could push it...I kindof get the impression that this girl is angry, employed by the Forest Service (her clothes suggest that)...young...I'm not really very sure about her, and we should know a lot within the first couple seconds of looking at the image. I think your cleanup looks gooood, so no worries there. If you want to put her in your portfolio, do a turnaround (front, back, profile, 3/4 view), and some action (plus expression) poses. Do as many drawings as you can, to get a better feel. You might also want to include some of your exploration drawings...i.e. what did she look like before she got to this final state? Portfolio people love to see the process. Overall, your drawing in general is strong, so you really have nothing to worry about when submitting your portfolio. However, I would get more opinions on this character. Right now, based on the quality of your other work, I'm leaning towards leaving her out. Hope this helps :-) --L
